I've been practicing yoga since 2005. In 2013, I completed my 200-hour RYT training at Practice Yoga, LLC and have been teaching since then. My classes focus on alignment using somatic awareness and breath. In addition to teaching at the Dayton Yoga Club, I've taught yoga with veterans in treatment for PTSD and with youth in building stress management skills.
I live in Dayton and am a fundraising and community engagement professional.
My first yoga class was at age 55! Before that, I studied ballet and modern dance with a bit of jazz thrown in for good measure. From the very first savasana, I was hooked! Thank you universe! My reasons for teaching encompass that feeling and wanting to share that feeling with others. While studying at Practice Yoga with Kim Carter, ERYT, and Kathi Kizirnis, ERYT, they began a teacher training program and I was lucky enough to be accepted into the trainee group. That was in 2012 and I’ve been teaching and learning ever since. In addition, I’ve continued brief studies with Matthew Darling, Tim Miller, Richard Freeman, Bernadette Birney, and others. While I mostly teach Ashtanga-style vinyasa, I am also interested in restorative yoga and yin yoga. As my body ages, the slower forms are speaking to me. My hope is to continue practicing, learning, and teaching.
